Problems with wood

1. For a quality product, beading has to be stained and sprayed several times on at least two or three of its visible surfaces.

  • The use of Spray Booths is a labour intensive and inefficient method of producing coverage of such a relatively small product.
  • Spray booths are expensive in labour costs to clean and maintain.
  • With Spray Booths there are also environmental aspects of evaporation to be considered.
  • Even if Spray booths are not used, the finishing process is very labour intensive.

2. The beading must not split when being pinned in position. Occasionally, during this process the beading does split and the whole piece has to be un-pinned, and rejected before the whole process has to be restarted.

  • This involves additional costly re-work which is also usually not recorded and therefore goes un-noticed.
  • At this point all the staining, laquering, mitring, and pinning has been wasted

3. Wasted lengths

  • Further wastage can also occur when wooden beading lengths can not always be ordered in convenient lengths to suit manufacturing requirements.
  • During storage wooden bead frequently  warps - and thus is wasted.
